Akron City Council Ward 1 Council Member Submits Resignation

 

Akron, Ohio, January 5, 2024 – Today, Councilwoman Nancy Holland provided notice of her resignation as Ward 1 Council Representative effective 4 p.m. on Friday, January 5th, 2024.

 “Akron City Council would like to thank Councilwoman Holland for her tireless service to the residents of Ward 1, especially, but also to the city of Akron as a whole”, said Council President Margo Sommerville. “Her advocacy for the Medical Debt Relief program, in particular, will provide unprecedented financial relief to countless residents of Akron.”

According to Section 28 of the Charter, Akron City Council has 30 days to appoint a new Council Representative.  Interested applicants must have resided in Ward 1 for the last 1 year and can submit their letter of interest and resume to the Clerk of Council at sbiviano@akronohio.gov by 12 Noon on Friday, January 19th.

Until a new Council Representative is selected, Ward 1 residents can contact Councilman-At-Large Jeff Fusco at atlarge1@akronohio.gov or 330-208-5561.
