City Council operates under a committee system with 9 standing committees. Committee members are appointed by Council leadership.

Matters that come before council are assigned by the President to the appropriate committee. The agenda and new legislation list summarizes all legislation to be considered by each committee that week.

Committees hold open meetings on Monday afternoons to discuss the issues before them and make reports and recommendations to the full body of council.

Committees meet as needed and only when they have pending legislation.
