AKRON CITY COUNCIL CLOSES APPLICATION PERIOD

FOR AT-LARGE COUNCIL MEMBER VACANCY

18 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED, INTERVIEWS SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 22nd

AKRON, Ohio, April 17th, 2026 — Akron City Council today announced the official closure of the application period for the at-large seat vacancy on the Akron City Council. In total, 18 applications were received from individuals seeking to fill the vacant at-large position.

Council leadership expressed gratitude for the robust community interest and civic engagement demonstrated by the volume of applicants. The breadth of applications reflects the community’s commitment to active participation in local governance.

Interviews with applicants will be conducted on Wednesday April 22, 2026. Following the interview process, a single candidate will be presented to the full Akron City Council body for a confirmation vote on Monday, April 27, 2026.
