Bruce Bolden was appointed to fill the vacant Ward 8 Council position on July 29, 2024.
Bruce is a lifelong Akron resident, attended Akron Public Schools and holds a BA in Communications from The University of Akron. He served as Ward 1 Council Representative from 1991-1997 and he and his wife Desiree live in the family home where she grew up in Ward 8 since 2002.
Bruce is a member and former chair of the Board of Trustees at Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ, a member of Leadership Akron’s Signature Class 15, past board member of Keep Akron Beautiful, and the Boys and Girls Club of Summit County.
Bruce serves on the Budget & Finance, Parks & Recreation, Public Service, and Public Utilities & Green Committees.
Bruce hosts Ward 8 community meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Northwest Family Recreation Center, 1730 Shatto Ave.
