Akron City Council Is Returning to Chambers in March
Akron, Ohio, March 1, 2022 —Today, Akron City Council announced that commencing Monday, March 7th, 2022, Council and Committee Meetings, and Public Hearings will be resume in Chambers with limited capacity.
Since the latest CDC guidance on indoor gatherings is still dependent upon a variety of factors, Council is convening hybrid meetings.
“We want to continue to do our part in modeling COVID mitigation strategies, while providing an opportunity to return to a measure of normalcy,” said Akron City Council President Margo Sommerville. “Having made the necessary legislative changes to continue to serve and conduct business in the current environment allows us the flexibility to offer council members, the administration, and the residents of Akron options for participating in City Council meetings.”
Pursuant to Section 141 of the Akron City Charter and Rule 1.4 of the Rules of Procedure for the Akron City Council, council meetings will also continue to be available remotely, using videoconference technology.
