Akron, Ohio, July 12,  2022 - Today, Akron City Council Leadership announced in keeping with the City-Wide Day of Mourning, several Interfaith Community Prayer Vigils are planned around the city.  “We are encouraging Akron residents of all faiths to come together and pray for the welfare of our city,” said Council President Margo Sommerville. “We are in challenging times, and we’re only going to get through them in unity and peace,“ she continued.

The Prayer Vigils will occur from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. outside of the following Community Centers:

  • Ed Davis Community Center – 730 Perkins Park Drive
  • Summit Lake Community Center – 380 West Crosier Street
  • Joy Park Community Center – 825 Fuller Street
