Water and sewer systems get Council's attention

November 18, 2014

Akron's water and sewer system took front stage during Monday's committee and Council meetings. Deputy Service Director Phil Montgomerey updated Council on green initiatives designed to reduce the scope of the combined sewer overflow project, which has been renamed Akron Waterways Renewed. During the regular meeting, Council approved legislation to make 22 emergency sewer repairs that were identified by video camera inspections and approved replacing two of the city's 22 miles of iron water mains installed as long ago as 1880.
