A discount grocer is coming to an underserved neighborhood in South Akron. Council approved the sale of city-owned land at the intersection of South Main Street and Miller Road to a developer who will build a new Save A Lot discount grocery store there. Also at Monday's Council meeting, Planning Committee Chair Jeff Fusco said a petitioner who asked for conditional use zoning to turn a home into an office at 1480 West Market Street withdrew the request. Many neighbors had objected to the proposed office, and several spoke to Council about their concerns.
