City of Akron’s Human Resource Director Don Rice spoke to the Rules Committee asking to remove the requirements for Polygraph Tests for specific positions. Mr. Rice suggested human resources and the legal department can develop an updated legislation that will be brought to City Council in the future for a vote. Council voted to pass this ordinance.
Council also passed an ordinance approving the city’s acceptance of a $25,000 grant through the Better Future platform to be accepted after being awarded by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The money will go to help run the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council, a youth, civic leadership initiative designed to educate Akron’s youth about their government, community organizations and service led-projects.
