Ward 9 Council Representative Mike Freeman won a unanimous vote of confidence during a special session of Council after ascending into the president's position on Thursday when former-President Jeff Fusco became mayor. President Pro Tem Margo Sommerville, Ward 3, ascended to the vice president's position, and Donnie Kammer, Ward 7, was elected president pro tem. Council also debated committee appointments, but new President Mike Freeman chose to delay any appointments until Council names new Ward 10 and At Large Representatives. Both appointments are expected within two weeks, he said. The Ward 10 position opened when former Council Representative Garry Moneypenny became mayor. The At Large vacancy opened when Council President Jeff Fusco replaced Moneypenny as mayor following his resignation.
