Two new construction projects valued at more than $75 million were approved following public hearings at Council Monday night. First Energy will build a $35 million high-security electric grid infrastructure facility serving the Northeast United States on Mull Avenue. Construction of the 200,000 square foot facility will result in more than 150 new, high-quality positions. LRC Realty also won Council's okay to build two five-story student housing units near the University of Akron. One unit will include 19,000 square feet of first-floor retail on Exchange Street. The two units together will encompass a city block, house more than 500 students and cost more than $40 million to build.
