Council approved an administration proposal Monday to rent a mobile LED display for the summer for movies and other community events. A movie night schedule already includes June 17, July 8 and Aug. 19 at Lock 3; June 23 at the Lawton Street Community Center; July 14 at Lane Field; and July 21 at Will Christy Park. The LED display has an advantage over a traditional projector because the picture can be seen in the daylight. Council also passed resolutions objecting to President Donald Trump's proposed budget and his withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on Climate Control, and objecting to proposed legislation at the state level that could force city and county parks to allow horizontal oil and gas drilling under park property.
