June 17, 2014

Downtown Akron’s first pet daycare and kennel won Council’s approval Monday evening when it approved zoning changes that will allow the small business start up to move into a vacant building at 90 South Maple Street. Benita Gadsen, owner of the new Downtown Akron Doggies, won praise from Council for her business and staffing plans. She said she would hire and train six individuals with developmental disabilities through Weaver Industries. Council also considered rezoning for a car wash and detailing business at the corner of George Washington Boulevard and East Waterloo Road, but rejected to proposal.
