City to Contract With Local Organizations to Mow and Maintain Lots

February 13, 2018

Council passed an ordinance Monday that will provide $175,000 to the Akron Neighborhood Maintenance and Empowerment Program for hiring grassroots local organizations to mow and maintain city-owned lots. The goal is to provide jobs, skills training and career assistance to lower-income disadvantaged residents. Council also approved an ordinance paving the way for First Energy to build a new Center for Advanced Energy Technology at its Mull Avenue campus. The $37 million building will be used primarily as a new technology training center.
