Cellular Communications Agreement Nets City $11 million

City Council gave its approval to an agreement between the city and EIP Communications that gives the company the right to build cell towers on city owned property. In return for granting access to 12 properties, Akron will receive $11 million, of which $6 million will be added to the general budget and $5 million will be held in reserve for future use. Council also honored the East High School football team with a resolution congratulating them for winning the City Series Football Championship. The team's coach told council that 12 of the seniors on the team will go to college on football scholarships.
