Residents and business owners in West Hill asked City Council to approve several zoning amendments Monday that resulted in the creation of West Hill Village. The amendments were made to zoning ordinances that created Victorian Village in the 1990s. The new zoning expands its boundaries, renames the village, and encourages economic development primarily by allowing residents to operate certain types of businesses out of their homes. Massage therapy, bookstores, plant stores, restaurants, art galleries and daycare businesses are among those suggested for the new village. The new village is centered around the area of West Market, Maple and Crosby Streets.
