Two issues that dogged Council for more than a year were resolved at Monday’s Council meeting. One was proposed legislation addressing roadside panhandling. After meeting with police and the administration, Council’s Safety Committee recommended filing the new legislation in favor of stronger enforcement of existing laws. The other issue involved construction of a 60-unit apartment building abutting homes on Vane and Sorin Avenues. Council's Planning Committee helped to negotiate an agreement among objecting residents, the developer and the city to swap land and build the apartment building on nearby Brownstone Avenue.
