Following in her father's footsteps, Ward 3 Council Representative Margo Sommerville was unanimously elected President of Council Monday during a special meeting to elect officers for 2018 and 2019. Council President Marilyn Keith met with Sommerville over the weekend and offered her support for Sommerville's candidacy. Margo and her father, Marco, who is a senior advisor to the mayor and serves on his staff, are the first father and daughter to both serve as president. At Large Representative Jeff Fusco was elected vice president and Zack Milkovich, Ward 10, was elected president pro tem. During the regular council meeting, legislation authorizing the city to give $25,000 to The University of Akron School of Law for its expungement program was approved. Marco Sommerville, while council president, started the program that seals conviction records for eligible citizens to make them employable.
