Rockynol gets OK for new facility

July 23, 2014

West Akron retirement community Rockynol will be building a new 64-room, $9 million assisted living facility at its 1150 West Market Street location. Council approved the proposed construction after a public hearing in which neighbors raised concerns about increased traffic on a section of Mull Avenue that has been closed to trough traffic for many years. Rockynol wanted to make that section of Mull Avenue its primary access because it must close the West Market Street entrance for the construction project. Council approved the proposal with the provision that use of Mull Avenue for ingress and egress would cease upon completion of the construction, and Rockynol would develop another plan for access to the retirement community.
