Resolution urging ban on powdered alcohol passes

September 30, 2014

Calling it a bad idea all around, Council unanimously passed a resolution urging the state legislature to ban the sale of powdered alcohol in Ohio. The new powder, which is not yet available in stores, can be mixed with any liquid to create an alcoholic beverage. The concern is that powder packets can be easily concealed and easily placed in anyone’s drink anywhere. Council also passed a resolution Monday evening eulogizing Herman Oden, a highly respected civic rights leader in Akron. “As an African-American male, Herman Oden was a shining example of what a man should be,” said Councilman Mike Williams. Oden was 86.
