Ethel Chambers was a regular at Akron City Council meetings, and Council honored her Monday evening with a resolution recognizing her many years of community service and activism. Chambers, 89, passed away during Council’s summer recess. “This was her house,” said senior Council member Mike Williams. “A hole was created with her passing, and we extend our condolences to her family.” Council also approved legislation related to the combined sewer repair plan after debating the need for more information on the impact integrating green solutions may have on the final plan.
