Akron's 10 wards now have a different shape. Council approved the redistricting plan presented at last week's Council meeting with just a few minor modifications. The new wards are drawn along neighborhood boundaries wherever possible, provide uniform populations averaging about 19,000 in all wards and retain the three minority majority wards Akron has had since the last redistricting plan. Council also rejected two rezoning requests for operating duplexes in West Hill, siding with the West Hill Neighborhood Association's preference to keep houses single-family units.
