Older police officers wanted

November 11, 2014

If you think of 35 as old, then the city wants older police officers to apply. Council Monday evening approved raising the maximum hiring age from 31 to 35 at the time the civil service exam is taken. Those who pass are eligible to be hired for 18 months after taking the exam. The change was made to expand the pool of candidates and include veterans who often were over the age limit when they completed their service. Council also discussed raising campaign contribution limits and scheduled a public hearing on the issue for Monday, November 17, at 3:30 p.m.
