A resolution commending Akron-native Amber Vinson for her extraordinary professionalism and courage was passed unanimously by City Council Monday evening. Vinson, the nurse who contracted the Ebola virus in Dallas while treating another Ebola victim, was praised for doing “everything right” in monitoring herself for symptoms and seeking immediate help when she first showed signs of a fever. Council representative Mike Williams compared her to a firefighter willing to enter a dangerous environment to save another human being. Vinson is now Ebola free.
