Alpha Phi Alpha Homes presented a proposal to Council Monday to build Akron’s first new housing development in a decade. The developer wants to build 90 new homes on land from Mull Avenue, where the shuttered Perkins Middle School now sits, extending west to Goodpark Golf Course. New home buyers would be eligible for Akron’s new property tax abatement program. Also Monday, council passed a resolution making the first Monday of October “North American First People’s Day” to recognize the contributions made by Native Americans.
