City Council approved the purchase and installation of a camera-based security and surveillance system for Akron’s water supply. The system will alert a dispatcher when there is any type of activity near a water facility. Council also approved the purchase of a brush truck from Boston Heights' fire department. The township is contracting with nearby fire departments to provide services and no longer needed the $90,000 brush truck, which Akron purchased for a bargain price. Prior to the committee meetings, council members heard a presentation on Akron's downtown development and revitalization plan.
