New Council Representatives take offices early

December 03, 2013

With voters having elected new Ward 1 and Ward 2 Council Representatives based on the city’s redrawn ward boundaries, City Council President Garry Moneypenny introduced legislation Monday evening to adopt the new boundaries and swear in new Ward 1 Councilman Rich Swirsky effective December 1 rather than the traditional January 1 date. Moneypenny said he wanted to ensure that all citizens were represented on Council following former Ward 2 Councilman Bruce Kilby's resignation at the end of November. With Swirsky's addition to Council, Ward 1 Councilman Jim Hurley moved to his newly elected Ward 2 Council position.
