Middlebury Commons Wins Council Approval

November 07, 2017

A proposed three-story mixed-use apartment and retail complex at the intersection of East Market, East Exchange and South Arlington Streets received the go-ahead Monday evening when Council approved a conditional use zoning request. Named Middlebury Commons, the development will include 40 apartments for low- and moderate-income senior citizens and five street-level storefronts. Also Monday, Council passed a resolution supporting the administration’s plan to file a joint lawsuit with the county against major drug manufacturers for contributing to the opioid epidemic. Any money awarded to the city from the lawsuit or a settlement will be used to fight the opioid epidemic.
