Library goes to dogs

March 08, 2011

A doggie day care business got the okay from Akron City Council to establish a day care, grooming and boarding business in an old library at 485 South Canton Road in Ellet. Ward 6 Councilman Bob Otterman said Council's approval of the legislation will give students in Ellet High School's Animal Management program opportunities to get jobs and gain practical experience.

Council also passed two resolutions at the Feb. 28 meeting. One urges Congress to reject the portion of the proposed 2011 Federal budget that includes cuts to the Community Services Block Grant program. The program provides $2.5 million to Akron Summit Community Action to benefit low to moderate income residents. The second supports the Ohio Labor Movement's opposition to Ohio Senate Bill 5.
