Issue 3 passes

November 07, 2012

The charter amendment proposed to save Akron taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars by electing all city officials on the same four-year cycle was passed by voters during yesterday's general election. The amendment will put all City Council members and the Mayor on the same election schedule beginning in 2015. All Council members will serve four-year terms, saving the city an estimated $200,000 for each election eliminated. Also passed were two issues Council supported with resolutions: the Akron School levy and a renewal levy for Children's Services of Summit County.
