An ordinance authorizing the mayor to purchase the East Akron Community House building was placed by Council Monday evening on next Monday’s consent agenda. The city wants to buy the building to ensure the continuation of services to the East Akron community, whether by EACH or other service providers. The ordinance authorizes the mayor to negotiate an agreement with the bank that holds the mortgage. The consent agenda is routinely passed without discussion of individual items. Council also placed on the consent agenda an ordinance supporting funding and refinancing of bonds to pay building and operational costs for the Akron Urban League and Akron Community Service Center.
