Council resolves to help former prisoners find jobs

April 14, 2015

Council passed a resolution urging the city and local employers that do work with the city to evaluate their policies that address the hiring of citizens returning from prison Monday evening. The goal of the resolution is to encourage employers to implement best practices which could help returning citizens qualify for more jobs. Other actions Council took included rejecting a request by Expectations Barber College for a $50,000 grant and rejecting a conditional use zoning request to establish a tattoo parlor in a residential neighborhood near The University of Akron.
