Council lays groundwork for Greystone redevelopment

September 24, 2013

Greystone Hall was designated as a historic landmark and Council approved a lease between Greystone Partners and the city Monday evening, laying the groundwork for the developers to apply for historical tax credits. Obtaining tax credits is the first step in redeveloping the hall and building a new downtown hotel, which has been called the key to increasing Akron’s conventions business. Also Monday, Jerry Craig, executive director of the Summit County ADM Board, spoke to Council about the services his non-profit organization provides and the need for residents to renew the November levy that supports the organization.
