Council Designates Day of Racial Healing

January 16 will be recognized in Akron as the National Day of Racial Healing. Council approved a resolution encouraging racial healing and acknowledging the efforts of many community institutions that are actively involved in racial healing efforts. Monday also marked council's return from the holiday break with new leadership at the helm, as Ward 3 Council Representative Margo Sommerville presided over her first meeting as Council President. Council will next meet on Jan. 22. All city offices are closed Monday, Jan. 15 for the Martin Luther King holiday. To watch Monday's meeting, click on the camera icon at the top of the home page.
