Council Considers New Fees For Bees

May 16, 2018

An amendment to city regulations covering animals would make resident beekeepers buy a city permit costing $50 for each hive they own. The amendment also would begin charging fees for hoofed animals and increase charges for taking animals to the Summit County animal shelter. Council took time on the amendment Monday evening after resident beekeepers complained that the fees were too high, would stop residents from keeping bees and ultimately would harm urban agriculture.
