City Council passed 21 pieces of legislation at Monday’s meeting as it began its annual summer recess. Among the legislation passed were two conditional use zoning ordinances for medical marijuana cultivation facilities and two resolutions that were opposed by several council representatives. One resolution opposed President Donald Trump’s suggested ban on transgendered people serving in the military, but those opposed argued that there is no ban and council was reacting to a tweet. The other expressed support for the proposed income tax increase. Council members opposing that resolution argued that council’s role was to place it on the ballot, not to tell people how to vote. Both resolutions passed 10-3.
