Council Approves Streets, Water and Light Improvements

May 01, 2018

Council spent much of its time addressing general maintenance items during Monday evening's city council meeting. Among items approved were a new shingle roof for the Kenmore Community Center; a new water pump for the Eastwood Pump Replacement Project; a cost-sharing agreement with neighboring communities for resurfacing or sealing roadways in spit jurisdictions; and the purchase of 16 LED high-mast light fixtures to replace sodium vapor lights. The LED lights will last 20 years versus the four-year life of sodium lights and use 50% less energy. Between the energy savings and reduced maintenance, the LED lights will pay for themselves in 3.3 years said city officials.
