Council Agrees to Support Funding for the Community including $25 Million for Improvements to Water Systems

On Monday, June 25, Akron City Council agreed to place four different ordinances on the consent agenda for the July 2 City Council meeting. Two of the ordinances authorized the Director of Finance to support the community, including $60,000 for the planning and implementation of the 2018 Akron International Soap Box Derby and $15,000 to support the maintenance of the Cascade Locks and Mustill Store Museum.

The remaining two ordinances authorized the Mayor to enter into agreements or amend agreements already in place to use city funds for the Ohio Public Works Commission’s Local Transportation Improvement Program and State Capital Improvements Programs, and $25 million for improvement’s to the City’s steam, hot water and chilled water systems with Akron Energy Systems.
