City trades property to make way for garden

March 01, 2016

The city is making a trade with the Akron Art Museum: property on the west side of Broadway Street for equal property on the east side. The trade gives the Art Museum the land it needs to create the Bud and Susie Rodgers Garden. The garden is an outdoor community gallery space designed to drive civic engagement and economic development. Council also approved a grant agreement with the state that will provide the city with $460,000 for infrastructure improvements to create "safe routes" for children who walk or bike to school.
