City to sell bond to pay for firefighter settlement

After taking a week to consider the legislation, City Council passed an ordinance that will allow the administration to sell up to a $5 million bond to pay for a settlement in its lawsuit with firefighters.The bond sale will be used to reimburse city and firefighter legal expenses as well to pay back wages and related employment costs. 29 firefighters sued the city in 2006 over its promotion policies and tests.
