Council approved a $582 million budget for Akron in 2014. The budget reflects rising income tax revenues of 5 percent last year and a projected 2.5 percent this year, offset by state reductions of $6 million in local government funds and $4 million in estate tax collections. Council also approved the sale of bonds totaling $55 million to pay ongoing construction costs on Akron’s Community Learning Centers. This was the third of four bond sales planned to fund the rebuilding of Akron’s school system.
