City Council held a special public hearing Tuesday night to hear citizen input on the recommendations from the Charter Review Commission. Citizens voiced concerns in opposition to many of the commission's proposed changes. The recommendations that brought about the most comments involved changes to limits on campaign financing and signatures needed for recall procedures and referendum procedures.
City Council President Marco Sommerville said he doesn't know whether there's enough support on the council for the commission's recommendations. Council is expected to vote on the charter changes before taking its summer recess in August. A final decision on which proposals should be put on the Nov. 2 ballot must be made by Sept 3.
