Akron Aeros trade owners

October 02, 2012

Council President Marco Sommerville told Council members Monday night that the Akron Aeros are being sold and the city is negotiating a new stadium lease with the new owner. Sommerville said the lease agreement must be completed before the sale is final, and Council members should be prepared to be called to a special meeting at any moment to authorize a new lease agreement. Mayor Don Plusquellic said the new lease will lead to some stadium improvements and ensures that minor league baseball stays in Akron for another 15 years.
