2016 capital investment budget approved

February 09, 2016

A capital budget of more than $450 million was approved by Council Monday evening, with almost half of the money earmarked for the massive sewer project and the central interchange project involving the Main Street and South Broadway ramps. The good news is that the state and federal governments are paying the majority of the costs. Akron's share of the infrastructure rebuild-heavy budget will be about $90 million. In other news, Council passed a resolution supporting a state effort that could make grand jury proceedings more open and a resolution asking the governor to veto a bill that would eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood.
