Rich Swirsky (D) was elected to office in November 2013. He Chair’s Council’s Green/Sustainability Committee, is Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee and serves on the Planning, Public Utilities, Public Safety and Housing Committees.
Swirsky is a teacher for Akron Public Schools. He has a Bachelor's in Political Science from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Education from The University of Akron.
Council Representative Rich Swirsky hosts Ward 1 meetings at the Highland Square Branch Library. He does not have regularly scheduled meetings, opting instead to call meetings when there are issues to be addressed or important information to share with residents.
