Local Muslim community thanks Council
City Council was presented with a certificate of thanks from The Islamic Society of Akron and Kent following Monday night's meeting.
The society's president, Ghulam N. Mir, M.D., presented Council President Marco Sommerville with a plaque that praised the city for its "unwavering and generous support to our nascent and growing Muslim community."
Sommerville said that Council would to continue to work with the Muslim community to unite and build the city.
