City to apply for fire safety, prevention grant money from Homeland Security
Akron City Council Monday night authorized the mayor to apply for $779,625 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to purchase new firefighter tracking equipment and for outreach efforts aimed at reducing fire deaths and injuries.

Metal detectors to be new fixtures outside Council chambers

City and Summit County land private backing, lower interest for Port Authority loan to Goodyear developer
Akron City Council joined Summit County Council Monday in approving a new private financing structure for the first phase of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. redevelopment project which reduces the previously anticipated risks to both parties by $2.5 million.
